Strip or Tape Lighting

General Descriptions to Help you Choose the Right Product for your Project

Brightness:

Wattage and Brightness [Lumen] are closely related, also for longer runs greater than 5 meters one needs to be aware of voltage drop. The greater the Wattage or Lumen the shorter the run has to be. The problem is easily solved by running an extra conductor [wire] to another section of strip.

Type [output] of diode

3528-18

SMALL DIODE

Diodes per meter

Guide to Choosing:

3528

Small Diode = 6 lumen per diode with the following spacing between diodes

  • -18 = 2 inch spacing
  • -30 = 25 inch spacing
  • -60 = .625 inch spacing
  • -96 =  .3 inch spacing
5050

Large Diode = 18 lumen per diode

  • -30 = 1.25 inch spacing
  • -48 = .82 inch spacing
  • -60 = .625 inch spacing
5630

High Output Diode = 34 lumen per diode

  • -56 = .82 inch spacing between diodes

Typical Uses:

3528-18

  • Lowest lumen, ambient lighting for a basic glow. Still brighter than Christmas lights.  Excellent for long run projects where the effect is more important than lots of light.
    • Walkways
    • Dock outline
    • Building edge/perimeter with high visibility to ¼ mile
    • Stairs and railings
  • Cutting marks are every 13.1 inches
  • Only 22 watts per 50 feet, very economical and easy to power long runs
  • Lumen per foot 32
  • Wattage per foot .44

3528-30

  • Similar uses as the 18 but adding a bit more light
  • 36 watts per 50 feet, very efficient and provides decent walking about lighting
  • Cutting marks are every 7.9 inches
  • Lumen per foot 55
  • Wattage per foot .73

3528-60/96

  • Moving more towards task lighting say for an outdoor patio or under cabinets in a kitchen – 96 provide a high level of task lighting within 5 feet
    • Under Cabinet lighting
    • Display racks
    • Pergola’s
  • Cutting marks are every 4 and 2.76 inches
  • Lumen per foot 60 = 110
  • Wattage per foot 60 = 1.46
  • Lumen per foot 96 = 176
  • Wattage per foot 96 = 2.05

5050-30

  • Our most popular building skyline lighting where you want to be seen from a one to three miles away – dramatic marketing effect for hotels, restaurants etc. Also excellent for replacing single tube fluorescent ceiling tray lighting with comparable light at 30% the electrical load.
    • Tray Lighting
    • Hotel/Restaurant skyline or perimeter lighting
  • Cutting marks are every 7.9 inches
  • Lumen per foot 164
  • Wattage per foot 2.2

5050-48

  • Used for such as tray lighting were the lighting is needed for task lighting, or eye brow lighting over a sign etc…., just a bit more light that the 5050-30. We do not recommend for building exterior edge lighting as the added lumen is not that noticeable yet the wiring and power considerations make installation difficult on longer runs.
    • Eyebrow or bottom up sign lighting
    • Patio lighting
  • Cutting Marks are every 4.92 inches
  • Lumen per foot 263
  • Wattage per foot 3.41

5630-56

  • High Output generally use for replacing fluorescent tubes that are providing task lighting. Over 4 feet the lumen output is the same as a fluorescent tube at 2200 lumen however being that the LED casts the lighting in a 120 degree beam rather than 360 degree, the foot candles on the floor are greater.
    • Shop/Garage lighting
    • Fluorescent tube retro fit
  • Maximum of 16 feet in one run – not for long run applications like building edges
  • We generally replace a 4 tube fixture with 3 light bars
  • Cutting marks are every 4.92 inches
  • Lumen per foot is 550
  • Wattage per foot is 5.8

5050-18RGB

  • Colour changing for long run applications.
    • Permanent Residential Christmas/festive lighting
    • Building edge lighting such as restaurants, liquor stores
    • Under dock lighting
    • Marketing – anywhere color changing and add value to your business
  • WiFi controlled with colour wheel selection, dimming, flash, fade, speed control, and custom programing of color changing.
  • Cutting marks are every 1 inches
  • Lumen per foot varies dramatically with colour – no worries on being bright, far better than any Christmas light strings.
  • Wattage per foot is 1.34
  • ambient
